Authentic Movement
- Authentic Movement
- Authentic Movement is an expressive improvisational movement practice that allows a group of participants to experience freer association of the body.
It was started by Mary Starks Whitehouse in the 1950s as "movement in depthâ€.
It has often been used within various forms of psychotherapy along with the tradition of witnessing others move silently, usually with closed eyes.
Participants then later usually explore their responses as movers or witnesses.
