CRPO stands for the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, a newly established regulatory college in that province intended to maintain standards for psychotherapy and to mitigate possible harm to the public though a code of conduct and discipline, and educational upgrading.
The CRPO will regulate the provision of all psychotherapists in Ontario except the actions of members of certain other regulatory colleges whose members are permitted to provide psychotherapy.
In strictly alphabetical order these are:
College of Nursing
College of Occupational Therapists
College of Psychologists and Psychological Associates
College of Social Workers
Please take note, however, that each of these colleges has its own definite of psychotherapy which may differ significantly from the prevailing definition of psychotherapy as described by the College of Registered Psychotherapists.
