Emotional Impasse
Emotional Impasse refers to the troubling feelings that seem persistent and difficult to dislodge, as well as inappropriate reactions to current circumstances.

People struggling with emotional impasse report feeling confused by their own reactions. They have the sense that the feelings they experience are taking the place of other feelings that are more painful or threatening or inaccessible.

Exploring the feelings and what evokes them now and in the past allows the individual to understand their origins and find new emotional expression.
