Enactment
An unconscious repetition of a neurotic event.

Such an enactment, or re-enactment, can provide us with a creative opportunity to more thoroughly understand ourselves and our unconscious motivations. The right therapist will sense the presence of an enactment beneath the surface behaviour.

Much of modern psychotherapy is focused on the eliciting and understanding of current enactments.
