Therapy Toronto Psychotherapy Definitions
- Jones, Ernest Jones
- Ernest Jones (1879-1958) was a neurologist and psychoanalyst who was one of the founders of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
A friend and collaborator of Freud's, he was instrumental in increasing public awareness of psychoanalysis in its early years, both in Britain and North America (he also spent 4 years at the University of Toronto, where he was an associate professor of psychiatry).
The concept of rationalization - a psychoanalytical term that has since crossed over into popular usage - was first proposed by Jones in a 1908 paper.
