Therapy Toronto Psychotherapy Definitions
- Substance Abuse
- This term is generally used to refer to the inappropriate over-use of alcohol, drugs (both prescription and illegal) and food.
There is a fine line between addiction and substance abuse, but in both situations the incapacity to refuse or limit cravings reveals a psychological dependency that makes it impossible for the person to manage such 'life-sweeteners' with appropriate restraint.
