Therafields was an important psychotherapeutic community that flourished from the mid-1960's until early 1980's in Toronto.
It attracted a wide following and its influence is still felt in psychotherapy and the arts scene.
Many former Therafields members are in practice as therapists though their training was never standardized.
Praised by many for its pioneering attempts to alleviate emotional suffering and reduce the social stigma attached in that era to seeking personal help, it was also justly criticized for over-emphasizing emotional subjectivity as a source of interpersonal truth and maintaining a hierarchy that conflicted with its roots.
