Bereavement
The loss of a friend, family member or spouse to death. Relationships are affected and there is often guilt on the part of survivors of a death.


The long-term effects of bereavement may include depression, psychosomatic illness, and melancholia.

Perinatal bereavement specifically refers to miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of an infant.
