Xenophilia
Love of the stranger, or a fascination with things that are unlike our own roots is a common occurrence.

In some cases it may be a negative response to one's own cultural roots, or mask a need for actual distance in relational connections.
Xenophobia
Literally the fear of the stranger, xenophobia exercises a powerful influence in dialy life even in societies where people from all over the world mix and mingle.
