Rationalization: Rationalization is a word used to describe the false explanations we give to others for our behaviour because they conform to acceptable social standards for attitudes, actions, feelings, ideas etc. - standards which our actual motives involved may not conform to.
Reflective Practice: Reflective Practice is a specific tool or process of most health care professionals in which time is taken to assess their own practices and experiences, in order to inform new choices and specific ongoing learning needs.
Relational: Relational psychotherapy is a powerful, effective model for working with individuals who suffer from chronic emotional, psychological, and/or relational distress.
Relationship: A relationship refers to the interpersonal and intrapsychic dynamics between two or more people.
RelPsych(Dip): RelPsych(Dip) stands for Diploma in Relational Psychotherapy granted by the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy, a private training institute in Toronto.
Reparation: In the theory of Melanie Klein, reparation is the attempt we make to make up for having wounded a person ('object') whom we have feelings for.
Repression: Freud's general term for the unconscious mind's process of ridding itself of conscious memories.
Respect: Respect has special meaning in psychodynamic psychotherapy. It means looking back at someone or something, and is ultimately derived from the theatre.
RIHR: RIHR is a membership designation granted by the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners.
RLMP: RLMP means membership has been granted by the Examining Board of Natural Health Practitioners.
RMT: RMT stands for Registered Massage Therapist a credential granted to members of the College of Massage in Ontario.
RN: RN stands for Registered Nurse, a credential of the government-regulated College of Nursing in Ontario.
RPC: RPC is a designation granted by the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.
RSW: RSW stands for Registered Social Worker, a credential of the government-regulated College of Social Work in Ontario.
RYT: RYT stands for Registered Yoga Teacher.
