Parenting

Parenting
Parenting may be the most demanding and important form of relationship. Our tendency to replay our own childhood parental relationships deeply affects our capacity as parents.

Children are profoundly affected by how their parents treat each other as well as how they treat them. Their own development is enhanced or hindered depending on the capacity of their parents to relate well.

When parents become overwhelmed with worry, frustration, anger or helplessness, they deserve support, consideration and a source of new skills to do what only they, the one of a kind, irreplaceable parent can do.

Couples can work together in psychotherapy to change behaviours, develop important insights that lead to compassion and ultimately gain a deeper degree of healing than might be available in individual therapy.

This obviously has beneficial outcomes for all the children of the relationship.
