Transference

Transference
Transference describes how we unconsciously treat the people currently in our lives as though they were somebody other than themselves.

We may unwittingly associate them with our reactions and responses to highly significant persons who they evoke.

In psychodynamic therapy, the therapist assists the client in understanding how the transferential behaviour of the client affects their current life with other people. Resolving transference distortions is vital healthy growth in relationships.
